Is UCLA housing first come first serve? ›

Offers are not issued on a first come, first served basis. Offers will be made to those who submit their application by the deadline, based on the below prioritization. The $30 application fee is non-refundable. Roommate groups are not currently available.

Can I request a roommate or will UCLA Housing choose one for me? All students wanting to be roommates should update their application to reflect the requested roommate's information. We will take mutual roommate requests into consideration when making assignments.

When is move-in? Move-In takes place over 4 days, prior to the start of the academic year. For the 2024-2025 academic year, move-in is Wednesday, September 18 - Saturday, September 21, 2024. You will be assigned a specific date and time in late August (depending on what building you are in).

Housing assignments are made according to the highest preference available (based on information the student provides on the housing application).

While the specific cost of board at UCLA differs based on the exact building and room that you choose, you're probably going to get more bang for your buck with UCLA off-campus housing.

Housing Services has the ability to assign students of different genders to the same room, in gender inclusive housing, upon request. Students interested in gender inclusive housing should indicate their interest within the housing application.

Studies show that students who live on campus perform better academically, have more contact with faculty, and are happier with their college experience than students who commute. Students can choose from several on-campus housing options, all of which encourage discovery and emphasize community.

They cant expect to have a majority of students on campus for classes without also providing housing for a majority of students. Just declining your offer means you lose your priority and if you decide you want housing later (say winter/spring), you will be added to the end of the waitlist.

Employees on the 9/80 work week, will work nine (9) hours per day for 8 days and 8 hours for one day in a 2 week period, which equals 80 hours. Any time off, e.g., personal sick, sick, vacation, will be reported in nine (9) hour increment, unless it's the scheduled eight (8) hour day.

Can freshmen get doubles at UCLA? ›

In the past, no. It is just that there are so many people at UCLA that second years typically take all of the doubles. That means freshman have a small chance of getting a double.

Regular status employees who meet the admission requirements of the university are eligible for a two-thirds reduction of both the systemwide tuition and student services fee when enrolled in regular session courses of up to nine units or three courses per quarter or semester, whichever provides the greater benefit.

The best dorms at UCLA are probably the deluxes in Sproul Cove and Landing. This is because they have air conditioning, space, and storage without the steep price increase that comes with living in a plaza or suite.

Roommates and exact room assignments for incoming students are completely random - basically, returning students have already chosen the exact room they'll be in, and then housing just slots all of the freshmen randomly across the building in whatever spots are left, keeping roommate groups together.

UCLA Housing Resources

Some space is available in University-owned apartments, which are very affordable, convenient, and allocated on a first-come, first serve basis. Single graduate campus apartments and married/family apartments are available.

Student family housing is reserved for married students, single parents, domestic partners, and families only. To be eligible, applicants must be full-time UCLA undergraduate students, graduate students, or postdoctoral appointees at the time of move-in (Postdoctoral appointees have the lowest priority).

Living on campus in residential housing—94% of new freshmen live in UCLA Residence Halls. Taking freshman classes, such as GE Cluster courses to meet basic requirements or Fiat Lux seminars for focused, small-group discussions with faculty in their fields of expertise.

UCLA College Dorms: An Overview

While most first-years live in the on-campus dorms, collectively referred to as the Hill, they are not required to do so. Living in the apartments or commuting are also feasible housing options.
