What size wheels does a Merida SILEX 200 have? ›

As standard, the SILEX comes with 700x38c tires and the SILEX+ with 650Bx45c. The maximum tire size for 700c wheels is 42 mm (road profile) while with 650B wheels being fitted, tires up to 50 mm wide road profile tires on the carbon and up to 42 mm on the aluminum bikes can be run.

The SILEX is available in two options. The 'classic' SILEX standing on 700c wheels, being the perfect 'all-road' bike which loves lanes, forest tracks and gravel or the new more 'rugged' SILEX+ version, which can easily tackle more demanding terrain due to its more burly 650B wheels and 45 mm tyres.

The SILEX 400 is an adventure-ready gravel bike that's equally at home doing a rough commute or winter training laps, thanks to a durable aluminium frame, lightweight carbon fork and huge tyre clearance of 700 x 45 mm – or even 42 mm tyres with fenders.

For versatility, the frame can accommodate wider tyres up to 35mm, or 32mm with mudguards.

There is no clearly defined measure for tyre clearance. However, you do want to make sure that small stones or debris that might get picked up by the tyre can pass through the gap.

If you aren't sure about your bike's clearance, a pair of digital callipers come in handy to measure any areas in question. Measure the frame first, and then your inflated tyres on your rims to see if they'll work. Listed clearance is pretty ambiguous. Your bike may accept up to a certain sized tyre but which one?
