  • This clinical trial will examine how a type of drug called cannabinoids (e.g., marijuana, THC) effects symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) during and after prolonged exposure (PE) therapy. PE is a first-line PTSD treatment which involves working with a therapist to emotionally process traumatic experiences and reduce fear and anxiety. During some of the therapy sessions, you may be asked to ingest a capsule containing either dronabinol, an FDA-approved cannabinoid drug, or placebo (sugar pill). This study will also examine effects of cannabinoids and PE therapy on brain activation during magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanning. The information gained from this study could lead to the development of new treatments for persons who suffer from PTSD. If you complete all study procedures, you will be paid $500 for your participation.
